  • The Rights of Nature

The Rights of NatureThe Corporate take over of politics is driving global ecocide. The entire economy can be rebuilt on principles within the limits of the Earth’s natural resources, with strict parameters being applied to energy giants and corporations, so that they cannot exploit our last great wildernesses for short-term gain. To do this, much re-arranging within governments would be required. Ideally, conservationists and ecological economists, sustainability experts and environmental law makers should be given political powers to become appropriate candidates to fill the seats in governments worldwide to replace the current oil barons, pharmaceutical and biotechnological stakeholders in governments that are destroying the environment and human health with their corporations, along with bankers and elite with their privileges above natural law. The Rights of Nature should be one of the highest values that an evolved civilised society upholds, not the destruction of the environment for money and power; everything is currently upside down and inside out when it comes to values and morals in society. Let us envision how we would like to see the Earth and human society in 20 years’ time. Now is a time where this hope relies on individuals who are willing to take responsibility to make changes in their own lives, to contribute to building bridges to a more sustainable future. We can each make daily commitments towards this vision, this is where we can shape opportunity out of crisis. Einstein once remarked, “We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.” The process of building a better world must begin with rethinking basic assumptions and exploring solutions for the root causes. Sustainability was born out of the ecology movement, in Ecology we have a term called ‘Carrying Capacity’. A population can live within the means of Earth’s natural carrying capacity, but when a species goes beyond it, it usually results in extinction of the population or some sort of bottleneck which has a profound impact on the environment, species survival and its gene pool health and conservation. Sustainability for mankind is about living within the realistic means of the Earth’s natural carrying capacity. Our oligarchic government and corporations do not wish to see the red margin lines, they act as if there are no limits by which we are constrained, because they are acting for a self-serving agenda, they continue to ignore all the warning signs. To understand what the benefits of sustainability are, we need to take a look at the bigger picture in which Capitalism is the driving force for present day human society, economics and political decisions. It isn’t all bad in that it encourages high standards in society through competition, culture, music, art, technology, production and economy, but we are failing by ignoring the building of high standards in environmental protection, ethics and management. Ironically, one reason is that pollution makes politicians money, and that is in addition to the millions which they already receive through lobbying agencies funded by oil companies in order to influence political decisions and policies which is a legalized form of bribery. There are many clues that point towards this; for example, it is well known to people who work in the oil industry operating in the Amazon, that when an oil spill occurs, the person who did the spilling gets an insurance pay off to clean up the mess, but the cleaning process is initially almost as toxic as the spill itself and many of these oil people ‘accidentally’ spill in order to receive the pay off. Corporations such as Oil and Biotechnological companies and politicians, all get similar insurance pay offs for environmental catastrophes, the environment however just gets destroyed.

  • Anti-Oil exploitation

Anti-Oil exploitationOil exploitation has been the driving force of Ecocide globally on a scale that most people cannot comprehend, the environmental laws for this have been so eroded that corporations can simply give millions of dollars to politicians through lobbying agencies to rewrite environmental laws to drill or frack a previously preserved wilderness area or national park of conservation. This forum is for people to mobilize defending these sites and campaigning and raising awareness to stop these unjust crimes against nature and humanity.

  • Environmental Protection is not a Crime

We are not Protesters but Protectors. "The measure of a free society is not how it treats its good citizens, but how it treats its dissidents." - Glenn Greenwald It started way back when Margret Thatcher was still in power, I remember seeing and hearing the words that the politicians and media came up with ‘’Environmental Terrorists’’, a label for environmental campaigners, animal rights activists and conservationists that were now being seen as a threat to everyone that wanted to make money, a media campaign was swiftly implemented to make people forget that we are not protesters but protectors of the environment. In the mid-1980s, these corporations got together and created a new word “eco-terrorist” because at the time, these protest movements were growing very quickly and effectively, and they had widespread public support. There clearly was a concern that unless public opinion shifted, there’d be a really big problem on their hands”. – Will Potter, ‘Green is the New Red’. What Will Potter does is bring people’s attention to the new speak and rhetoric that has been carefully used by politicians and their media vehicles for social engineering. Whistle-blowers and journalists can now risk imprisonment for speaking out, this was new legislation implemented in 2014, the very fact this has become a political measure indicates that we definitely do not live in a democracy. While any hope for improved transparency in governments globally is becoming less apparent, it is more like a global movement where special intelligence agencies, politicians, banks and corporations enjoy further protection and privacy as a result of new laws enforced to discourage any form of investigative journalism which has been valued in the past by people such as Edward Snowdon and Julian Assand to expose corruption, while we see our privacy and human rights further eroded. We really need to be campaigning for further transparency on these government agencies that are not wholly operating for the good of all, this is clearly evident. The “war on terrorism” allows governments to treat everyone as an equally suspected terrorist, not just international, however domestic terrorists are now seen as equally threatening to governments, they are usually local activists involved in some form of campaign or advocacy work, including Greenpeace campaigners, environmentalists and journalists. If you are caught handing out leaflets perhaps to raise awareness of pollution in your local community, you could be accused of inciting terrorism.

  • Deep Ecology & Modern Society

Deep Ecology & Modern SocietyIt is modern society and its corporatized values that are causing most of the malfunctioning. The subtle violence of what society calls normality is disturbing enough and what is expected of people to conform to, in such an environment. That is enough to drive anyone to depression along with the general stress of everyday living and paying ones monthly bills, most people are being denied their humanity. Accepting that our humanity is key in healing, accepting that it is okay to feel broken, deep sadness and the spectrum of emotions that bring us the gifts of questions and answers, help us to get closer to our own inner truth, what is really good for you? What do you really need? How do you really feel? What is really important for the human creature and for the Earth? It is okay to be totally honest and let go, to allow raw emotions to flow through, to just be free to feel what comes through, it's not normal to keep marching on while a war on consciousness is ensuing. William Manson explains that in 1968, Erich Fromm prophesied "The year 2000, might be the beginning of a period in which man ceases to be human and becomes transformed into an unthinking and unfeeling machine”. -In the context of a prevailing dehuman syndrome, spontaneous human expression becomes pathologised: Being open in speech; being unashamed of one’s body; relating to nature; hugging, touching, feeling and making love with other people; refusing to serve in the army and kill; and becoming less dependent on machines are generally considered ‘disturbed behaviour’ by a society of robopaths”. Of course, behavioural modification is facilitated through ideological training, expanding law enforcement, and emotional anaesthesia (psychopharmacology). In my view, revitalisation of one’s desiccated human-ness first and foremost requires a renewed contact with the web of evolved life, with Walt Whitman’s ‘primal sanity of nature’. Transcending the blinkered, bourgeois-utilitarian (mechanistic-industrial) world-view, one can embark on a purification of consciousness, a purging of the detritus of cultural pollution (and a recovery of emotional innocence). Withdrawing from the world of urban commerce (and its mind-numbing “messages”), one severs the flow of media propaganda and ceaseless “information” (relating to the ubiquitous ‘buying and selling’). Compulsive ‘having’ is the pathology of deficient ‘being.’ Aesthetic simplicity means disconnecting from repulsive superfluity. Seeking sanctuary in wilderness surroundings, one rediscovers the gentler rhythms of low-cost rural living: walking instead of driving, and prevention of disease through a style of living consonant with ecological wisdom.’’-William Manson.

  • Consciousness & Entheogens

The value of plant medicine in expanding human consciousness is important to acknowledge especially today with many people in the west that are awakening and seeking to reconnect their lost cosmovision and ability to connect with nature in a way that goes beyond the perimeters of human mind. Plant medicine is especially helpful to facilitate this. I have personally experienced the effects of Ayahausca and how it opens portals for a whole forest consciousness to speak to me, this has been a profound experience on many levels. If anyone is interested in an authentic Ayahausca experience, please contact me. I can help facilitate connections with my medicine man that is authentic and the cost is no more than a ticket to South America, the rest are simple travel and food costs, if you want to get a group together even better, this is purely authentic with no extra costs like most people advertise.

  • Eco-education

Eco-educationAs an ecologist working several decades in various environmental sectors, I will say that I have come to learn that ecological illiteracy is not an accident, it could be considered as a successful form of social engineering that is very convenient for the current greed driven oligarchy. Ecological ignorance is good for business, yet business can only last so long while the environment is falling apart around us, everything we do relies on ecology and ecosystems, and we cannot continue to ignore this fact. Ecological illiteracy in government and society is one of the worst things that has happened to Earth and to us, for humanity to become so disconnected to ignorantly treat nature as separate from itself.
